Composix Kugel Mesh Recall
Specific lots of the Composix Kugel Mesh were recalled in December 2005 by manufacturer Davol, Inc. after it was realized that the memory recoil ring was buckling or breaking under the stress of placement. The recall was changed multiple times between December 2005 and January 2007. The recalls were classified by the FDA as Class I hernia mesh recalls. This is the highest level of recall for medical and surgical device implants considered to be dangerous or defective. They could cause severe complications or even death.
